Overview
Rievent offers Google Analytics integration for all customers. The Rievent integration supports the gtag.js implementation using Google Analytics 4 Properties. Google Tag Manager integration is not supported. For more information regarding our policy on Google Tag Manager see Google Analytics: Rievent Policy on Google Tag Manager.
Google Analytics page view tracking is incorporated on all learner-facing pages. Basic page view, clicks, title, date-time, user-agent, environment, and locale are tracked by default. Personally identifiable information is not tracked and IP address are anonymized. Page views within the learning activity workflow additionally track the activity name, title, and access code, along with the workflow name and component. These additional data points provide Rievent customers a greater range of options for analyzing their user funnel.
Customer Setup Process
Rievent customers wishing to integrate Google Analytics page tracking in their Rievent-hosted learning site should follow the sequence of steps below.
- Customer creates a new Google Analytics Property (Create Data Stream - details provided below)
- Customer copies the MEASUREMENT ID and provides to Rievent.
- Rievent will configure the customer account for Google Analytics with the provided MEASUREMENT ID and inform customer when completed.
- Customer configures their reporting within Google Analytics. If the customer intends to analyze page views in terms of Rievent activity and workflow component interactions, they will need to configure custom dimensions. (details provided below)
Creating Google Analytics Property - Measurement ID
As a first step, customers will need to create a new Google Analytics Property and Data Stream for capturing their page view data from Rievent.
On the Google Analytics site, go to Admin → Data Streams - Add Stream → Web. Enter you Rievent domain for the website URL and then click "Create stream." You will now see a field for MEASUREMENT ID under Stream details. Copy this value and provide it to Rievent:

Configure Google Analytics to Receive Custom Dimensions
In order to report on these values on the Google Analytics site, you must first configure the custom dimensions: Configure → Custom Dimensions → Create custom dimensions. Set the "Scope" to "Event" and set the "Event parameter" to one of the dimension names form the chart above. Here is an example of what configuring accessCode looks like:

The best place to report on these values is under the "Explore" tab. Here is an example of a Free Form report including Activity name and Workflow component:
